Scientific American, Before and After

Scientific American is owned by the publishing company Springer Nature. This multi-billion dollar publishing company previously agreed to block access to hundreds of articles on its Chinese site, cutting off access to articles on Tibet, Taiwan, and China’s political elite. They also rejected papers from Taiwanese scientists for refusing to be called Chinese. Playing politics is not new to these people.
